Let’s talk about hiding the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Because let’s be real, our gut can be a real pain in the you-know-what (literally). But fear not, because with a little creativity and a lot of humor, we can learn to fight the symptoms like the queens we are.
I remember when my dad was teaching me to drive. I’d gas it when the light turned green and he’d say, “It’s not a race!” But, when cramping and diarrhea hit, life can turn into a race real fast. (And yes, those are my actual running shoes with a cute filter.)
Here are my top tips for surviving (and enjoying) time away from home.
—Scout bathroom locations as soon as you arrive.
—Carry essentials in your purse. Travel toilet spray or air freshener, a change of underwear or yes, an adult diaper if things are dicey, and flushable wet wipes. When it comes to IBS, raw isn’t better.
—Humor.
Laughter truly is a wonderful medicine*. So, embrace the silly moments and find humor where you can. If pretending your stomach growling is a secret language only you can understand, go for it.
You’re a queen, and nothing can stop you.
With love and care,
